The internal combustion engine has been changing by fuel formulation.

It has been using water heated to steam to drive cars for over ten years now. 90% water 10% ethanol. This is based on the French cooking technology with wine, called flame'.

Now ethanol is refined with less corn oil, so that fuel performance can achieve the torque of diesel engine at low RPM. This concept is borrowed from 2 cycle engine which has to add SAE50 to run at idling rpm. Slower burning oil provide the torque needed.

But the most exciting technology in 2010 has to be the addition of compressed air to the fuel at 21 psi pressure. This will boost engine horse power to be doubled. Torque will improve, and fuel consumption will reduce. These turbocharger will operate constantly at any rpm, air pressure peaked at the highway driving rpm. Torque is monitored at 1300, and 2500 upto 3500 rpm for smaller engines.

This is almost like jet engine technology, except used to run pistons in internal combustion engines. Most of the cars will use less than 1.5 liter engines around 120 hp at peak performance.
