Let me rephrase. Accepting that there are times when you could be wrong is more meaningful than trying to be "right" at any cost.

But I don't get the sense that CJ is trying to be right beyond anything that is normal. I mean......no one goes into a discussion trying to be wrong.....but if one of you made a point that made any kind of sense, I think he would admit to it. My sense is his ego is not the behemoth you all seem to think it is.

The biggest problem in the exchanges between you guys and CJ is that he tends to rely mostly on fact while you all tend to speculate......a lot, or rely on sources that are speculating.....a lot. In that kind of scenario, he can't help but come out on top.

For a long time, many of the lefties and moderates on this thread have wanted to engage you all in substantive exchanges but its become impossible in the last few years and mirrors what's going on in this country. Some of your POVs just don't make sense. The people you most admire are fukked up. The sources you all rely on are weak if not lame. That's not to say there aren't weak sources and fukked up leaders on my side of the table.....but those are not the people we cite. I would never consider the views of a Sharpton or a J. Jackson or a Byrd as gospel just as I wouldn't consider the views of Rush or Beck or Palin or Steele as gospel. And yet those are the people on your side of the table that represent you all and whom you defend ad nauseum.

Frankly, I am sick of it. And it gets so down and dirty. Inode is laughing at me because I have been diagnosed with PTSD. Its gotten so bad we are laughing at each others defects. That's just plain crazy.

Bottomline: CJ's arguments sound normal to me.......he argues and presents his views the way I was taught to present my views. With the exception of you, sometimes Taro and Jozef and on rare occassions, inode, you all sound like crazy people to me. Seriously, you all sound like the people I spend considerable energy trying to avoid. I don't know what to say. I am frustrated and feel like this country.......the country that I love......is doomed to decline. It makes me very sad.
