Seems to me this all boils down to on one side having enough people who are focused on decreasing the numbers of uninsured, period. They think that's important enough to accept whatever baggage comes with it. On the other side you have folks who are weighing the accomplishment against the baggage.

That's a value judgment. You can't reason folks out of their value judgments about what's important. Some people think that getting folks "insured" is just too important to worry about cost. Other people think getting 40-something women mammogrammed is just too important to worry about cost. Different strokes.
