I just don't see how anyone other than Obama can win the "Lie of the Year" award. His claim that his health care legislation would be created in the open, with cameras in the room, and with "all the parties" participating, was the biggest lie perpetrated on the American public in my memory.

It is "big", not only in the scope of what was said and what was done, but in terms of its effect on our country.

Very big lies can be told, but if they are inconsequential, who cares? But Obama's willingness to have this legislation passed in the way it did has huge, long-lasting implications for the country's future.

Liar of the year? There really is no doubt who wins that award.
