One of Brinker's favorite topics is covered in the article at this link - Hypocritical Republican opposition to Obama"Care" and 2003 support for the unfunded Medicare-Part D Drug Benefit which has added to the public debt and annual deficit. (Of course, not mentioned was the fact that this benefit was being urged by Gore in the 2000 campaign and Bush seemed to say "me too" just to get elected, and then there was the Hillary-Gingrich deal on the issue - They are all cut out of the same cloth, eh!)

It's all an ego issue as conditions are different now, and, it's obvious to those with a brain that "Two wrongs don't make a right". Government overspending has been bi-partisan over the years. It's just that the current administration avoids obvious healthcare cuts like

(1) Capping medical liability lawsuit awards as successfully done in California which would significantly reduce the number of prescribed "CYA" medical tests, and, would cut Doctor's overhead through resulting lower insurance premiums. WHY - because lawyers provide campaign funds to members of congress who are mostly lawyers - an obvious conflict of interest!

(2) Removing regional restrictions on health insurance competition.

(3) Aggressively pursuing Medicare fraud through independent audits of those companies providing goods and services to the medical industry.
