Reason #1. There are better times for this company just around the corner.
Reason #2. Someone who likes the techology and can give it a wider market, will buy it.
The company has a good position in the market thanks to its aggressive penetration of the embedded client-side ORB market, witness its relationships with the Netscapes, Oracles, Sybases and Borlands of the world.
However, imho the winner in this segment is not going to be the company with the smartest ORB - in itself, this technology is too widespread, and the threshold of entry is too low to maintain a profitable business over time. The winner will be the company that builds the most effective development, deployment and management environment around the basic technology. Visi can do this themselves, thanks to the beachhead they have established, or they can be acquired by someone who can do it more effectively.
Any other good reasons out there?
