Well, the good thing about a Democracy is that if the leaders don't act in accordance with the will of the people, then they lose their jobs. I believe we'll find that the Dems will retain majorities in both houses in 2010, which will be a good confirmation that the Dems are doing the will of the people.

Incidentally, if you are concerned about fascism, we should look at what happened in Florida in 2000. What's interesting is that I voted for Bush Jr in 2000 and was elated that Gore lost. However, years later, I read that an independent group of newspapers went in and recounted the votes in Florida and found that Gore actually won Florida. However, the courts didn't allow the counting to be completed. So Gore actually won Florida and he won the countrywide popular vote. Bush outspent Gore 5 to 1 on lawyers and had the favor of the court, so he overturned the popular vote to win the election. So if you are concerned about fascism, look no further than the GOP.

That's why I find this whole belly aching on fascism so putrid and hypocritical now. It's a joke. Nothing the GOP accuses the Dems of is credible in light of the fact that they have done worse on those very same issues.
