Let's try this a different way....maybe we can find a way that will wake you up to the alternatives in life and get you thinking like a progressive. I know, I know.........a very unlikely possibility.

Here is a chart of Brazil's oil consumption. Two things to note......the country's GDP is growing like mad...much faster than the US's and yet oil consumption is relatively flat. Why do you think that is? Think biofuel. Please also note that oil production only exceeded consumption in 2008.....so Brazil's oil bonanza is a relatively recent event.



The point is had the US taken steps to curb its oil consumption in 1980 like Brazil.......meaning if we had had a president with some vision back then, we wouldn't have had to start a war in Iraq in 2003.
