Nevertheless, it was a bonanza. You're dead wrong in your argument here. Brazil's energy independence is a result of drilling & development and without it they would NOT have become energy independent. Their baseline requirements are nowhere near what ours are. If you consumed our entire sugar and corn crops with biofuels you couldn't reach the 20% level they are at. It just really isn't a very valid comparision.
