No way PC penetrate 90% US population, until you can't do anything without it. Now we're only in the "you can do thing better with it" mode. In some developing country, there're still a lots of family don't have a phone or TV. The trends show that the marjority of PEOPLE WHO PLAN TO BUY A PC will spent $1.5K ~ $3K on their purchase. Simple Q, how many people are buying x486s today? Why don't we see some peak sales on them ? IMHO, Mark Brophy's comment can not sustain. If one don't (think that he )need a PC, he won't even spend $300 for it. If he need it so much and have no big buck, why don't he go for x486 or 2nd-hand PC? I have no money and I need a car to commute. I'll buy a used car. Or should I shout at any car maker for $2,000 NEW LOW END CAR?
