No. I mean like during the 1990s, where our economy enjoyed the peace dividend. We had some minor skirmishes after the first Gulf War, but largely, it was a period of peace and declining military spending. Our economy boomed.

We've spent too much time in war, instead of in making money this last decade. No wonder the stock market has returned 0% this last decade. Did you know that the stock market has returned 0% over a ten year period, only 4 times in the last 200 years? In general, war is not good for economies, unless you are allowed to keep the spoils of war. We certainly didn't do the wars we're fighting now, despite Cheney and Rumsfeld's belief that Iraqi oil would pay for that war.
