He did, and I opposed it. But that unfunded liability is highly overstated at this point, as the implementation of the program was excellent and was such that it was pretty much fiscally responsible.

Because the legislation didn't cave to Democrat interests, it has come in under budget every year, and not by a little. The cost of the program has turned out to be small compared with the projections specifically because they DIDN'T do what the Ds wanted.

I'll agree we couldn't afford Part D when it was passed, but the argument in favor was reasonably strong -- i.e., what good does Part B do if the patient can't then afford the medications the M.D. prescribes.

At any rate, Part D is on a trajectory to become the most affordable of the health care initiatives our country has implemented. Unfortunately, the Obama legislation destroys Part D's cost effectiveness, and it will become the same bloated crap that is now MC, Medicaid and SS.
