AJS was hot today: Senate Poll Shocker

strata-sphere.com

I knew the Democrats were heading for political self destruction in 2010 and 2012 – but I had no idea it was going to be this bad. Here is the latest Rasmussen poll for the Nebraska Senate seat held by long time incumbent Ben Nelson (D):

Dave Heineman (R)
61%
Ben Nelson (D)
30%
Some other candidate
5%
Not sure
4%

That is just incredible. Nelson won his last race in 2006 by basically the opposite margins: 64-36%.

He has been a solid conservative Democrat who looked unbeatable. But the rising tide against the Democrats in 2009 is now at tsunami levels and still rising.

For 2010 looks like Dems will lose incumbents in CT (Dodd) and Nevada (Reid), neither of whom are polling beyond the political death mark of 40%. It also looks like Dems could lose seats in NJ and CO, even possibly IL.

I am beginning to wonder how bad this blowout will be when independents and older voters shift dramatically back to center right (don’t worry about far right candidates in primaries – the economy is so bad people will be out in droves in the primary process to get things back on an even keel).
