Ethanol from food is, and was, a bad idea. I complained about it from the beginning. But, it is politically popular with Republicans and Democrats. Hard to fight.

"A little warming will be good for crops anyway - faster, bigger growth, longer growing seasons and they use less water with more co2 in the air."

Nonsense. Warmer temps. can negatively impact yield. Especially for things like wheat and corn.
