uw, if you are sitting in a window seat the bulkhead is a couple of inches away from you, and we know he was fiddling around under a blanket. If he could have removed the explosive packet from his crotch (maybe the real lesson the bomb-maker will take away from this incident is, use Velcro next time), he could have bent over under the blanket, pretending to be trying to find a position he could sleep in or to untie his shoes, and set the explosive on the floor.
