Further on the write-off issue ... I just received confirmation that my brokerage "bought" my remaining shares for 1 cent effective Dec 29 which will allow me to "legally" write off the loss in 2009 and be in total compliance with CRA rules. Those who haven't done so yet, may want to contact their broker a.s.a.p. if they want the write-off in 2009. Potential future recapture of losses claimed would be applicable if the class action is successful. Don't take my word on the above. Always check with you financial advisor / accountant.
