The Mass law mandates that everyone have health insurance. My plan, offered by Tufts Healthcare, cost $1,100 per month two years ago. It's a family plan with $15 co-pays. The first year of the Mass law, it went to $1,300 per month and the co-pay increased to $20. And last year, it went to $1,900 per month. I did not add or change coverage.

Anyone who bears the cost of his own insurance here in MA can attest to these increases. All the companies, Blue Cross, Harvard, etc., charge about the same.
