"Who administers security at Schiphol? Is it the same company that looks after security in Boston airport?"

Yes. ICTS has an office in Schiphol and recently were certified there for a security system using dogs. They have an interesting history with Richard Reid, the Shoe Bomber. There were many allegations about them in connection with 9/11. Google "ICTS+Boston Logan".
