As far as I am concerned, the American failure in the Nigerian affair was not suspending the Nigerian's visa when his father complained to the US embassy. It shows we still have a problem with the CIA which in an ongoing bureaucratic snit, refuses to share intel with other intel agencies. A president should not have to be involved in the thwarting of every terrorist attack. It should be done automatically systematically. Maybe if the CIA gets cleaned up.....and after the Afghanistan fiasco, a very deep cleanup seems necessary......the system will work the way its supposed to work.

Starts at the top. If the president is bashing the CIA, treating terrorism as a crime, etc., you should not expect anything better.

That's why we didn't have these problems under GWB.
