"So where will we get our centrist."

Probably can't with the present two party system. The Republicans have made it clear that they will eat anyone who isn't rabidly far Right. In principle, the Democrats could be open to it, but with the Republicans going in the direction they are, it is a lot less likely. Besides, to get very far in either party, you have to be in the pocket of the corporations.

And that limits things. A true centrist is going to put our country and our future ahead of any one particular group. Because that is the whole point, no ideology and no favoritism. Now, the corporations don't mind being pushed around a little bit, when they shout "frog!" they want to see people jump. Which is reasonable, they are coughing up big bucks and feel they should get a ROI. With a presidential campaign running in the billions, and even governorships running in the millions if not 10s of millions, they are going to have undue influence.

And that is what really needs to change.
