His White House recognised its political vulnerability more readily than it comprehended the level of danger faced by Americans. That last bit is the most troubling part of this. At the end of the first year of Barack Obama's administration, there's something moving in the shadows of Mount Doom. It wasn't there while George Bush was in charge. But Barack Obama is no George Bush. And the strategy of blaming Bush for being weak on terror will not work after eight years of blaming Bush for being too bloodthirsty. A mule is only 1/2 jackass. When I was a lot younger, in a corral just outside Tuttle, Oklahoma, my grandfather (the town blacksmith and bootlegger) taught us to use a length of 2x4 when saddle breaking (or trying to) a young inexperienced mule. It seems the pundits have their 2x4s out and are swinging them mightily. I'm not sure it will work on a 100% jackass, but it is worth a try. If they keep it up long enough it may work on the jackasses who voted for him. Ridicule is the most harmful thing the mighty one could face. He cannot handle it. His willful failure to act promptly in the face adversity demonstrates clearly that he was frozen by his own fear. Fear and ridicule are poison to his personality needs. When he finally did show up he was not wearing a tie. The only symbolism I saw in that was obviously phony. It was either that phony symbolism or fear shook his hands so much he couldn't button his shirt. Instead of rock solid confidence and calm, his face projected fear. I thought OMG the teleprompter must be malfunctioning. Less than a week after the bomb attempt, 8 CIA officers were slaughtered. The missing component in our wars has been civilian government agency support. Even this tragic loss of civilian personnel did not move him to go to work to shore up that vital civilian component. Neither the man nor his staff have a clue what to do when the going gets tough so they do nothing meaningful. It is called sins of omission. And it is all fearful personality driven. We got us a virgin fighter who is afraid to get hit and afraid to fight back...so his opponents pummel him.
