I don't think it's being too hopeful to expect that Obama should shape up until we can fire him.

Huh? Obama is an arrogant self deluded megalomaniac. Why would he see the need to shape up? The fact that he sees he is likely to lose the advantage in Congress next year just inspires him to get the country screwed up faster.
