It would be nice to have a mechanic you can trust. I'm fortunate in that I found one that I think is fantastic. He explains things in detail to me and doesn't talk down to me. If there's something I don't quite understand, he backs up and explains it in terms I can understand. He also guarantees his work. If he makes a fix and I still have the problem, there's no more charges. Made an exception one time and insisted on paying for the part even though he didn't want to charge me. As you can imagine, he's much in demand and keeps his customer list to only those he wants to work with.
