Korea Buys Oil Fields in Kazakhstan

Korea National Oil Corp. (KNOC) has secured two oil fields in Kazakhstan by buying a stake in a Kazakh enterprise.

The Ministry of Knowledge Economy on Tuesday said KNOC completed the purchase of Kazakh oil developer Sumbe, which owns two oil fields in western Kazakhstan, on Monday after acquiring shares on Friday and is now awaiting the Kazakh government's approval.

KNOC bought an 85 percent stake in Sumbe.
