Here is Scott's idea simplified:

I. What You Do

Each week you rank the teams that are still alive according to how confident you are they will win the Super Bowl, starting with "12" for the most confident team, "11" for the next confident, etc. No need to pick any winners per se.

That's it. Couldn't be simpler.

II. How You Score

You get points for the confidence value you assigned to the teams that won that week. In addition, you get points for the confidence value you assigned to those winning teams in past weeks.

That's it. Couldn't be simpler.

=====

Example:

Picks for Jeff (assuming four teams remain)
12 Atl
11 Bal
10 Chi
9 Den

Actual Results
Bal def Den
Chi def Atl

I get 11 points for Bal and 10 for Chi for winning, equals 21 points total.

Final Week Picks
12 Bal
11 Chi

Actual
Chi beats Bal

I get 11 points for Chi winning this week. I get 10 points for Chi I assigned last week as well, for a total of 21 points this week. That's 21+21=42 points total.
