My father in law was covered by a Humana Advantage plan in Florida. When we moved him to Alabama, he could not stay with that plan so we switched him to Medicare. With some exceptions, the was largely the same. By the way, the Humana plan restricted him as to which doctors he could see.

There are probably a half dozen Humana MA plans. However, NONE are "largely the same" as straight Medicare. I'll assume you made the remark out of ignorance.

In particular, Medicare pays only 80% of certain costs, while the MA advantage plans offer options to limit copays for physicians as well as hospital stays. They provide options for dental and vision care which aren't even part of straight Medicare. By "restricting" the providers, they are able to provide the coverage of a supplement without the cost.

Perhaps your father-in-law was a wealthy individual where these services don't matter, but to people who are living hand-to-mouth it is a big deal not to have to come up with your 20% or pay for a supplement, but many people are not so lucky.

This is a subject you know nothing about. We've been over it time and time again and your knowledge is basically nil. Why don't you just move on?
