<<Has anyone seen any hard evidence of any weakness in Komatsu's product? Any idea of production capabilities and timetable?>>

<Have you read any of Maxwell's posts?>

With rapt attention. There is a world of difference, however, between saying that there is evidence that Komatsu's entry is not competitive, and saying that there is no evidence that it is not competitive.

I don't particularly trust Komatsu. It is entirely possible that they are hiding defects/problems. However, it is also at this point entirely possible that they do have a competitive product.

If you had answered my question instead of asking another, your answer would apparently have been "no". All we know at this point is that Komatsu says that they have a 248 as good as Cymer's, and that there is a very thin (i.e. low-credibility) rumor that Nikon is going to buy some of them.

I'm not saying this is going to lower Cymer's earnings, but I sure as hell am not going to gamble that it won't. I'm sitting it out until there is firmer information. There are too many sure things in the industry. I'm switching my money from Cymer to CMOS, TER and/or SVGI (which is also somewhat speculative, but at least it appears to be pulling ahead).
