I generally don't like movies that moralize on me, but I would have liked Avatar regardless of whether it's theme was environmental destruction or not. Having said that, the big draw is due to the incredible graphics. The movie has been overwhelmingly popular, except among US Republicans. Why is that, do you think? I think it's just another example of the GOP being out of step with the rest of the country and the world. Not that being out of step is necessarily a bad thing always, but in this case it is a bad thing because the GOP is wrong.
