Of course you don't. You tend to ignore or belittle any information that contradicts your world view.

The point is, that Reid could have been pulled out of the civilian system at any point before his trial and declared an enemy combatant. He wasn't, but handled in the civilian court system. Even if the procedures weren't in place at the time of his arrest, they certainly were by the time Padilla was picked up. So, how did Reid slip through the cracks?
