Idiot. The principal REASON for keeping them out of the criminal justice system is to get useful intelligence from them. Six months down the road, there is very little chance of that.

If you're going to get actionable intelligence you go for it immediately. They may have had reason to believe he didn't have it, they may not have felt they had adequate procedures in place, or there could have been some other reason that neither you nor I know about.

What we DO know is that the pantybomber was providing good intel until the instant he lawyered up. And that the NITWIT John Drennan actually said on TV last week that he would be motivated to give up intel because of the possibility of a f*cking plea bargain.
