two whites....
first:
Neyers Chardonnay 2007 Carneros district, Santa Helena, CA Price $ $13.65 (750ml)
very pleasant, full body, oak and buttery, but short in its finish... an inexpensive version of better more full bodied chardonnays, but for the price, not bad at all.
food pairing:
fried tilapia fillets with caramelized onion, garlic, pepper, and thyme baby spinach, belgian endive, and baby arugula salad
second:
Beringer Napa Valley Vineyards 2007 Santa Helena, CA Price: $12.49 (750 ml)
apple-pear, more in the style of chablis, a little steely but pleasant and refreshing. like the wine above... somehow short in its length of finish ... but again, for the price, great value.
food pairing:
roasted cornish hen (stuffed). baked vegetables screwed up on the vegetables, because using unfamiliar cooking equipment and left house to run errands... and sort of dried the vegetables... (but not bad)
both wines very agreeable and great value, particularly Neyers. |
