Three Networking Veterans Join Packet Engines Management Team
Gigabit Ethernet Leader Continues To Grow By Signing Additional Top Notch High-Tech Professionals
SPOKANE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1997--Gigabit Ethernet industry leader Packet Engines(TM) continues to expand its management team with the announcement today that three industry veterans have joined the company to head strategic departments.
Nick Schommer is Packet Engines' new director of business development; James K. Wilson comes to the company as director of product development; and, Donald G. Reckles has joined Packet Engines as director of outbound marketing.
Nick Schommer to Direct Business Development
Nick Schommer has fourteen years of data networking industry experience in financial consulting, marketing, product management and sales. Prior to joining Packet Engines, Schommer was at Deutsche Morgan Grenfell (DMG) Technology Group providing data networking industry consulting services to the bank's research and corporate finance entities. Before DMG, Schommer worked for seven years with Bay Networks developing Bay's competitive marketing group and managing the Silicon Valley sales territory. Previously he worked for Hewlett Packard and Rockwell International.

Schommer has a master of business administration degree in finance and marketing from the University of California, Los Angles, Anderson School of Management, and a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley.
James K. Wilson to Direct Product Development
Jim Wilson previously served as director, encoder systems engineering for DiviCom, now a subsidiary of C-Cube, in Milpitas, Calif. There he managed development of the second generation 1 RU MPEG2 encoder, with responsibilities for all software, hardware and mechanical development.

Prior to DiviCom, Wilson was vice president of research and development for Voyant corporation (formerly Knex Technology), president and CEO of Knex, and director of product engineering at Pixar. Additionally, Wilson held development positions with Evans & Sutherland Computer Company, Unisys and Hewlett-Packard. He received his BSEE and an MEEE from Brigham Young University.
Donald G. Reckles to Direct Outbound Marketing
Don Reckles comes to the Packet Engines team following more than three years at FORE Systems Inc. during which the company grew from $23 million to $395 million in revenue, making it one of the fastest growing network equipment suppliers in the United States.
''Don is a first class marketing professional who has proven himself in the industry,'' said Packet Engines' vice president of marketing, Jeff White, who previously worked with Reckles at FORE. ''I am especially pleased that Don is able to join us now as we prepare to unveil our leading edge switching products. Don's expertise will greatly enhance our strategic positioning for Gigabit Ethernet solutions.''
Prior to his work at FORE Systems, Reckles served as an internal consultant to start-ups and assisted in the privatization of Eastern European state-owned firms. In that capacity, he worked with a variety of communications and media companies. He has also held positions with AT&T and The Richards Group marketing and advertising agency.
Reckles has a master of management degree from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, and a bachelor of business administration from The University of Texas. He also studied international marketing and management at The Copenhagen Business School in Copenhagen, Denmark.
