SPOKANE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 3, 1997--Gigabit Ethernet industry leader Packet Engines(TM) continues
to expand its management team with the announcement today that three industry veterans have joined the company to head
strategic departments.

Nick Schommer is Packet Engines' new director of business development; James K. Wilson comes to the company as
director of product development; and, Donald G. Reckles has joined Packet Engines as director of outbound marketing.

Nick Schommer to Direct Business Development

Nick Schommer has fourteen years of data networking industry experience in financial consulting, marketing, product

the Silicon Valley sales territory. Previously he worked for Hewlett Packard and Rockwell International.

''At DMG, Nick had a broad view of emerging technologies and companies,'' said John Armstrong, principal networking

Jim Wilson previously served as director, encoder systems engineering for DiviCom, now a subsidiary of C-Cube, in Milpitas,
Calif. There he managed development of the second generation 1 RU MPEG2 encoder, with responsibilities for all software,

''Jim brings a depth of experience in start-ups and technology that will prove especially valuable in our development of leading
edge Gigabit Ethernet solutions,'' said Bernard Daines, Packet Engines president and CEO. ''His management and
development skills will be especially key to our ongoing work. We are very happy to welcome Jim to the team.''

Prior to DiviCom, Wilson was vice president of research and development for Voyant corporation (formerly Knex
Technology), president and CEO of Knex, and director of product engineering at Pixar. Additionally, Wilson held
development positions with Evans & Sutherland Computer Company, Unisys and Hewlett-Packard. He received his BSEE
and an MEEE from Brigham Young University.

Donald G. Reckles to Direct Outbound Marketing

Don Reckles comes to the Packet Engines team following more than three years at FORE Systems Inc. during which the
company grew from $23 million to $395 million in revenue, making it one of the fastest growing network equipment suppliers
in the United States.

''Don is a first class marketing professional who has proven himself in the industry,'' said Packet Engines' vice president of
marketing, Jeff White, who previously worked with Reckles at FORE. ''I am especially pleased that Don is able to join us
now as we prepare to unveil our leading edge switching products. Don's expertise will greatly enhance our strategic positioning
for Gigabit Ethernet solutions.''
