Over Xmas, the niece of a friend of mine went through security with a large pair of hair shears she had forgotten she had in her bag (she's a stylist). TSA didn't say a thing.

I've had tweezers confiscated, and an almost empty bottle of mousse because the container COULD have held over 3 oz. while my son went through security with a skateboard strapped to his backback.
Now I ask you.. who can do the most damage? A 5'2" 55 year old woman with tweezers or a 6'2" 21 year old with a big heavy wooden object?

The system is comprised of humans who are going to screw up, whose minds wander, who are lazy. It is often adjusted and re-designed post facto.

I have given up expecting efficiency or rational responses from the government, but I admire you all for still hoping!
