That was a very limited system. It is a long way from being perfected. All of the TV technologies being commercialized currently are some variant of field sequence. That means you get one frame for one eye, followed by the frame the other eye. You then wear some shutter glasses which black out one eye when the 'wrong' frame is being presented. The movie variants are a little different. They project two different frames at the same time, but polarized in different directions. The glasses they use are polarized appropriately.

I had a pair of shutter glasses for my Amiga maybe 20 years ago. The technology has improved a lot since then.
