The $196,000 cab bill was just one example of $169 million misspent by Medicaid, according to state Comptroller Thomas P. DiNapoli, who released three audits Tuesday on the public system that pays for the health care for the state's poor and disabled. Medicaid, which is funded federal, state and county money, spends $45 billion a year. DiNapoli's auditors identified overpayments, billing errors, administrative mistakes and abuse. Some of the problems have been cited yearly by the auditors but have not been fixed by the state Department of Health, which oversees the program, DiNapoli said.
