>Doesn't matter what the House wants or what the intended level is.

Why not?

>We all get screwed over by higher taxes.

Says you. In our best days with the largest middle class, the tax rates on the wealthy were highest.

>Best way to raise taxes is to raise them on everyone. That way you have a consistent revenue stream and everyone can feel the burden of "being a f**king society, Tench."

Remember, there's more than one kind of tax. People who aren't paying as large of a percentage of their income on federal income tax are paying sales taxes and other kinds of taxes. The wealthy are paying the lowest share of their income in taxes right now in recent memory, and probably less than you or I do. Look at hedge fund managers, who are making more money in cash than probably anyone else in the country. They're paying 15% of their income in taxes because they've managed to buy off elected officials.

>Raising taxes on the "rich" almost always screws over the middle class one way or another.

Because you say so?

>This "Cadillac tax" is one of many examples.

No, this Cadillac tax is a game being played to look like taxing the rich while not actually doing so.

>CA tried to structure its taxes on the "rich," and look what happened.

How so?

>Like I said before, if you want a real wealth tax, tax property.

I wouldn't object. But that's never really been up for discussion and in the meantime, we're running pretty significant deficits and facing declining infrastructure at a time where a small portion of our population is making tons and tons of money, and it wouldn't even be an issue if taxes were where they were in the '60s.
