I think the government should levy extra taxes on companies that produce food that is bad for us. These companies encourage unhealthy eating, yet bear NONE of the costs to Americans.

Start with companies like:

candy companies
pastry companies
sugary drink companies
dessert companies
fried food companies
etc.

To some people, this food might as well be crack. Apply the proceeds to health care.

I heard an idea on NPR today to let food stamps count double for fruits and vegetables.
