1/8/10 Update Well, I did manage to find the time to set up my Contest spreadsheet after all. So, here's the update for Week 1 of the 2010 Biotech Stockpicking Charity Contest. Apparently, the Bears were recovering from their New Year's party hangovers, giving the Bulls little competition the first week of the year. At Friday's close, the Nasdaq Composite Index was up 2.34%, while the Nasdaq Biotech Index was up 2.12%. And the Contest median was really truckin', closing up 5.30%. Thanks to CYCC's meteoric rise, MCBIO's portfolio took the top spot with a 20.59% YTD gain. But DEWDIL's portfolio, powered by BFRM, was just a smidgen behind with a 20.31% YTD gain. Remarkably, all 32 Contest portfolios were in the black at the close of the first week and 29 of the 32 were beating the NBI. Wow! Good work biotechies! I'll try to post a Summary Table of all the portfolios, as well as a list of the stock picks with the number of portfolios choosing each pick, in the next few days. Have a terrific weekend folks! Below is the Top Ten list 1/8/10:
