Sure it was. One thing we know about Bin Ladin is that he does what he says he's going to do. He's a lot like Bush in that regard. Osama Bin Ladin told the US to get our troops out of Saudi Arabia or he'd declare holy war on us. We went there because we were afraid Saddam was going to make a play for Saudi Arabia after they invaded Quwait. We didn't want our mother lode of oil supplies in Saudi Arabia to get disturbed. So we went in there and kicked Saddam's butt back to Iraq, but we made an enemy out of Bin Ladin who didn't like that infidels were occupying the Muslim holy land.

So we were there for oil and look what it got us. If we didn't need oil from any other country, then we wouldn't be involved in that God-forsaken region to begin with. Our involvement in the Middle East is 100% about oil.
