WSJ : Icahn borrowing 2 billion + Icahn the hypocrite
Maybe he will use some of the cash he is raising to buy the rest of XO at a decent price. Kind of hard to tell people XO can't borrow while he is out and about raising huge piles of cash....

Overheard: Beware, Barbarians

Wall Street doesn't want the great unwashed listening into conference calls when they aren't invited. That became clear Friday when Jefferies & Co. had to move quickly to ensure the wrong kind of person didn't get onto a conference call starring Carl Icahn .

Jefferies on Thursday sent out invites for the call, scheduled to help market a $2 billion debt offering for Icahn Enterprises. But Friday morning Jefferies alerted invitees they would get a new number five minutes before the call started. We overhear the firm decided the early circulation of the number was a mistake, as the offering was being made as a private placement. Given Mr. Icahn's celebrity, the firm apparently was nervous that members of the public, or maybe reporters, might hop on the call. After all, it isn't often Mr. Icahn is available for questions.

It isn't only the Secret Service that frowns on gate-crashers.
