Steve: You have it right! Just praise and worship Him.
Now about our music, I play a fiddle in our service here at Hope Chapel in Canoga Park. First time I've used a sound pick-up was when I began with this church band. In Maryland, it was strictly hymns and the familiar praise songs. Surprisingly, the fiddle adds a lot to the band sound. We have electric piano, a great set of drums (pastor plays those), bongos, bas guitar, guitar, keyboard, and singers in addition to yours truly. We play mostly contemporary, many of the Promise Keeper songs, but are working on special arrangements of the hymns. It's a good sound and enables the congregation enter into His presence. We are still learning about worship, but I fully understand that worship is extremely important to a church body as it brings the presence and power of God into the service. If any of you have musical talent, I encourage you to use it in your church. Now, if no one has told you that you sing well, but you just think that you do, perhaps you had better check that out first.(gg) Lee |
