He thinks we're wasting our time in Iraq. He has long argued for a larger focus on our energy security and warned of the consequences of breaking Iraq.

As far as the carbon price, if you have been a Friedman fan, you'd know that his first choice is a gasoline tax, but knowing that to be politically difficult to achieve, he has also started touting a carbon tax or carbon credit trading.
