>>> He thinks we're wasting our time in Iraq.

He supported the Iraq War on the very basis that I did, i.e., that removing Saddam and replacing him with a democracy would spread throughout the region, which it has begun to do and will continue to do if Obama doesn't f*ck it up.

Of course, as soon as it became tough he quit talking about it -- as almost all liberals did -- hoping everyone would forget that he was totally supportive going in. Probably the one point I have ever agreed with him on, and frankly, he was right but now is ashamed to admit it because it wasn't as easy as he thought it would be.

>>> As far as the carbon price, if you have been a Friedman fan, you'd know that his first choice is a gasoline tax, but knowing that to be politically difficult to achieve, he has also started touting a carbon tax or carbon credit trading.

If you think the "real estate" bubble was something wait until you see the "carbon credit bubble" -- which will come if you give traders a shot at it.

I'm not a fan because at his core he is a pretty extreme liberal. But he does, IMO, know a lot about the Middle East.
