If we are to enforce double standards then Reid's comments are ok. Trent Lott said some nice things about Strom Thurmond that were taken out of context and he was railroaded on that basis.

Ah, yes, we can always count on Peter Dierks for some conservative fiction. We can also count on the thread creator to endorse it.

Here is what Lott said about Thurmond (whose candidacy was based on segregation):

"I want to say this about my state: When Strom Thurmond ran for president, we voted for him. We're proud of it. And if the rest of the country had followed our lead, we wouldn't have had all these problems over all these years, either," Lott said at last week's party.

So, Lott was endorsing segregation.

Let's play a game: Take Reid's comments and spin them in the most negative way you can. But you must explain exactly how you get to your conclusion.
