>You pass all sorts of spending programs just to get the voters hooked onto the public largesse.

No, that's not why. I would actually like to prevent seniors from starving on the street and to keep people from losing their homes, etc.

But this is actually a great example of projection. Ever hear of the "Two Santa Claus" theory?

>You know full well that entitlements will NEVER decrease, so any spending programs you pass today can never be repealed tomorrow.

They SHOULDN'T decrease.

>Then you come back to the voters telling them they have to pay for all of this. But don't worry, if they can't afford it, they can always find someone richer than themselves who can pay for it all.

Um, aren't the Democrats putting some tax increases (whether I like the particular ones or not) into the bill so it's paid for now?

>Meanwhile government grows and becomes more powerful. And with the power comes even more corruption. The corrupt ones will never leave office because the livelihoods of millions of people are in their hands, and they know it.

SPOOKY conspiracy theories...

>That's why I don't believe anyone who says that taxes HAVE to go up, then creates the very programs that cause taxes to have to go up. The reality is that you want taxes to go up. It's that simple.

I only want taxes to go up to pay for the things we should have. Sometimes they're too high. But now they're not.
