GTE owns copper in Washington State as well. Remember GTE is largest local phone company in the country. Also remember that "owning" the copper will not be a restriction under the 1996 Tele-Communications Reform Bill. GTE will be able to provide not only DSL but local phone, LD, Internet, Cell, etc. service even in areas that are in other ROBOC's lata's and Viesa Versa : ) All telco's are readying or preparing to deploy DSL, not just US West and GTE. Agreed cable is ahead of DSL, today! I think once we see the Worldwide Telecommunications Industry finally put in gear DSL cable could be out paced in a matter of months. At this time I can not comment on DSL deployment but you will hear an announcement this quarter as to where we will be deploying DSL first. SA
