I fully believe some people are guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt

I thought that way when I was a teen-ager, then I grew up and realized that life is full of uncertainty and complexity. Unfortunately, the world is dominated by people who have Faith, like you, Bush, and Bin Laden.

You can make a case for the death penalty as a deterrent, or as part of the Judeo-Islamic tradition. You can make a case against the death penalty on moral grounds or as part of the Christian ethic. But that debate is moot as long as we're convicting people on eyewitness reports and other shady evidence.
