Right. He (Greg or e) has the tendency. It is not "lying" to him (his faith forbids "lying"). It is just unconscious cheating and foolishness.

But when Less starts talking about "angels" and when he/she references ideas that have no more evidential basis than unicorns or an invisible planet in a coffee cup...THEN he/she is exposed as irrational. The essence of rationality is to rely on proven or substantial premises--NOT to try pulling off the trick of believing in both everything and nothing at the same time.

As for you, DAK...you are the only one of the three who uses the "new" physics to float your views. The universe is an AWESOME place--NO DOUBT. But to mix modern experimental knowledge (as Less does) with all the imagined worlds created by primitive, pre-scientific peoples (heaven, hell, demons, angels, souls, sins, etc.) is to shame even alchemy.

Rational people throw out ALL "bibles" and ALL pages. If there is a baby in the bath water of primitive imagination it is purely by accident. For instance, if the imagined "angels" actually existed it would be a COINCIDENCE that would make winning the sweepstakes an unremarkable event. Rational people don't mix "angels" and "demons"--and imagined cures for leprosy or infidelity--(or the delight "God" takes in the smell of burning flesh/food) with quarks, atoms, refraction, or rocket propellants. Rational people DON'T mix shit with shoe polish.

Greg or e makes no rational points with me as to his reliance on premises which are imaginary and quite nonsensical. However, he DID expose Less as a creature having more glib than gumption. Less repeatedly refused to step up to the plate with a raised bat. You can't pitch to a wraith. And that is a fact. Less has a wonderful gift for language. I admire that. But language must serve either beauty or reason. It is useless when it bastardizes either goal and simply floats at the 50 yard line unable (or unwilling) to choose either a team or a color.

If you want to be scientific you DON'T mix modern science with the ideas of people who knew ABSOLUTELY nothing about sperm or egg or clouds or light or germs or mitochondria or data transmission. "Angels" and "souls" are not rational concepts just because they were the invention of the most ignorant humans who ever lived (except for the humans WHO COULD NOT imagine such "explanations" in a primitive world that cried out for explanations). Those ideas have no more RATIONAL substance than Superman, Batman, The Green Hornet--or "PIP" in "Great Expectations".
