Washington is my favorite founding father ... that is the one most admirable imo. Further he was the favorite of the other founding fathers too. He was personally brave - exposing himself to enemy fire time after time and not just in the Revolution but in previous conflicts. He put his life, his wealth, everything on the line more than anyone else by being the commander in chief of the revolutionary army. He had the capacity to inspire his troops and every one who knew him. He was born into a slave-holding society, but in adulthood came to belief slavery was wrong and set his own slaves in an orderly manner. He prevented the revolution from descending into tyranny after it had succeeded by preventing an uprising of former revolutionary officers. He set the model for what future Presidents would be. Without Washington this country probably wouldn't exist. Not as it is anyway.
