You can call it "social democracy" if you like.
I call it a cradle to the grave, semi benevolent exercise in unilateral government corruption, dictatorship and police statism.
There are 100,000 RCMP in Canada. There are fewer people in the armed services. That is one Federal Cop for every 300 people, or one for every 90 adult males. They don't wear uniforms mostly. They may live beside you. They are responsible for putting prograbugs in your computer to suss out your passwords, and one is probably spying on you now from his safehouse with his made in Japan night vision goggles. Just look out the window and down the street. See that house with the curtain almost drawn all the way. That's the guy, officer O'Flaherty. Don't cuss, they are writing that down. Notice how he has a different car parked in the driveway every other day? See! And the last guy moved out, another person with the same habits and age moved in the same week?
The Russians always admired out society in its kontrol of the proletariat. They saw that we had much more money to track our people than they. We could afford to produce 100's of millions of pic ID cards with mag strips that can checked at 10's of millions of even mobile kiosks. Russians did not have that kind of money. We could afford a police force that was bigger than the KGB.. really. (You are asked for 3 pieces of picture ID in a bank.. can you imagine? What ID cards need pictures in Canada.. I can't think of three!!)
We didn't worry if they (The "free people") move around, as that just gives more agencies for them to go through to watch what they they do. And people are always more careless where they believe they aren't being watched. You get stopped in a car and your license "routinely checked" 12 times more in North America than in Europe! And of course your movements are flagged onto a central computer which registers a profile on your activities, and models the likelihood that with your already established personality profile that they bought from Bloomberg which harvested it on the internet and from your credit card, google links, paypal.. that you will commit from heinous crime, or appear to, such that they can blackmail you into becoming a government stooge. Now the car manufacturers are asked to just put magnetic detectors, GPS trackers flat aerials, and radio links in the car in several secret locations so that you can be tracked anywhere on the planet. They get people who make personalized items to put them in handbags, buttons on clothing, and in the heels of shoes. These can be passive aerials that have number signatures, which pass street level detectors spread throughout the city like so many streetcar monitors. Alterations on a suit. In goes the detector. And they know how to influence Joe Six pack to co-operate. It's public morals, pornography drugs, mafia etc.. everybody is in it, you know. Nobody refuses, you will find.
One time I drove to Sault Ste. Marie from Toronto and I was stopped by police 7 times. They got incensed when I asked them why they were stopping me! Ok, so I was driving backwards and weaving at over 100 mph. I knew what I was doing.
They don't need prisons. Canada is one. They are mailing out the ankle bracelets on people's birth days this year. You can register yours on the internet.
You know how they caught 4500 citizens with Swiss Bank accounts? Swiss would not tell them because of banking secrecy. They bought access to their email from yahoo. Bell will just give it for the asking. I know their employees are instructed NOT to ask for warrants. I mean this predates 911 by 40 years. They tracked the email and then just told them they would be prosecuted if they did not declare. I would have just told them to prove it. The people fell for it, as they were naive. No way the Swiss could co-operate in US court cases and witness against their clients. There would go their banking business. And if they saw a whole bunch of encrypted mail, what could they do? Raid you house and force you to give up the code or go to jail on some pretext. Well I would lose the code, and keep it so I could. There are ways.
The US actually should reduce taxes not increase them as Obama is going to do. Increasing taxes is what caused the last depression, and will aggravate this one. Hand up people who think we are not in a depression?
BTW you could get the money from the RCMP to start a rare earth mine because rare earths are needed for all their high tech night vision equipment, and remote sensing devices. And to put tracers on your personal belongings so you can be tracked by remote radioactive sensing crystals. I know one guy who did that already.
Really. I can see you think I am joking. Sadly, no.
